Associate Research Seismologist at the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, USA
BA in Physics from the University of California San Diego and a Diploma in Physics from the University of Goettingen, Germany. PhD in Geophysics from the University of Stuttgart, with at dissertation on "Volcanic Tremor and Physical Source Models: Lascar Volcano, Chile". Experience with broadband and strong motion data for volcanoes, as well as local and teleseismic earthquakes. Areas of work include network design; instruments, installation and telemetry; data archival and databases; waveform and event analysis; moment tensors; modelling volcano tremor sources and waveform propagation; empirical Greens function analysis. At the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory of the University of California Berkeley since June 2001 (Postdoc June 2001 - June 2004). Dr. Hellweg is a member of the Program Management Group of the California Integrated Seismic Network and co-chaired the 1906 Centennial Commemmoration Conference for the Seismological Society of America.
